Commentary Shema. According to Rabbi Amram Gaon (ninth century) this originated at a time of persecution when Jews were forbidden to publicly declare their faith. They then incorporated the first verse into the Musaf Amida, where it remains to this day.
Commentary קדושה Kedusha (next page): As with all forms of the Kedusha, the central verses are the praises of the angels as described in the mystical visions of Isaiah and Ezekiel. The surrounding verses are different in Musaf from those of the other Amidot, most notably by the inclusion of the first verse of the
