Because Jacob was willing to move out of the Holy Land and live in Egypt—a place of exile and spiritual darkness—God wanted to send Jacob the message that even during the night—in the spiritual darkness of exile—God will always be with the Jewish Nation. We therefore invoke Jacob when we ask God to answer us and rescue us from our difficult exile, a time of great darkness.",
