"text": "1 Literally, \"Who raised you up from the land of Egypt.\" The Hebrew word for Egypt (מִצְרַיִם) can also be translated as \"boundaries.\" God did not only take us out of Egypt; He also \"raised\" us and enabled every Jew to go beyond his personal boundaries and limitations. This concept is also hinted at in the next part of the verse, where God instructs us to open our mouths \"wide\"—beyond normal limits. In practical terms, this means praying and studying Torah more than we are accustomed to. If we do so, God assures us that He will \"fill\" our mouths and provide us with what we need.",

"text": "2 This Psalm was chosen as the daily song for Friday because, according to the Midrash, Adam recited the first verse of the Psalm immediately following his creation, which occurred on Friday. The purpose of doing so was to declare God King of the universe. In order for God to be King, however, it was necessary for Him to \"dress Himself.\" Just as a person dresses himself with a garment in order to conceal himself, so does God conceal His unlimited energy so that He may descend into this limited world and rule over it.",
