Our prayers are instead of Temple offerings, as it is said by the prophet Hosea: Today, after the destruction of the Holy Temple, we make up for the bulls that we cannot bring as offerings by talking about the offerings with our lips in prayer. And the Torah says: This is the law regarding the burnt-offering, the flour-offering, the sin-offering, the guilt-offering, the consecration-offering, and the peace-offering.
