"text": "In the year when the Tabernacle was first dedicated, on each of the first twelve days of the month of Nissan, a Nassi (Leader) from one of the twelve tribes of Israel brought a special offering. The custom is to say the section of Torah that describes each offering on the day it was offered, followed by an additional prayer. On the thirteenth day of Nissan, an additional section of Torah is said, without the additional prayer."

"english": "It was on the day Moses finished erecting the Tabernacle; he anointed it and all its vessels and sanctified them, and he anointed the altar and all its vessels and sanctified them. The leaders of Israel, the heads of their ancestral tribal households, approached to bring gifts for the Tabernacle; they were the leaders of the tribes and they were the ones who stood with Moses and Aaron to help count the Jewish Nation. They brought their gift-offerings before the Lord. It consisted of six covered wagons and twelve oxen, a wagon from every two leaders, and an ox from each one of the leaders; they approached and brought them to the Tabernacle. Moses was unsure as to what to do with this offering, for he would not accept it unless commanded to do so. Therefore, the Lord spoke to Moses and told him to tell the Jewish Nation what would be done with the gift-offerings: Take the offering from them, and it shall be used for the service of the Tent of Meeting—the Tabernacle. You shall give them to the Levites; give to each man according to the amount needed for his work. Moses took the covered wagons and the oxen and gave them to the Levites. This is how Moses split the offering. He gave two of the wagons and four of the oxen to the Levites who were from the family of Gershon the son of Levi, according to what was needed for their work of carrying the curtains and coverings of the Tabernacle. He gave four wagons and eight oxen to the Levites who were from the family of Merari, the son of Levi, according to what was needed for their work of carrying the pillars of the Tabernacle; all this was under the direction of Ithamar, the son of Aaron the High priest. However, he did not give from the gift to the Levites who were from the family of Kehat. For the work placed on them involved transporting the holy items including the Holy Ark, which they were to carry only on their shoulders. The leaders of each tribe brought offerings for the dedication of the altar on the day it was anointed—the first day of Nissan. The leaders each brought their offering to the altar. The Lord said to Moses, regarding these offerings: One leader a day, one leader a day, over a period of twelve days, is the way they shall bring their offering for the dedication of the altar.
