TABLE OF PERMITTED RESPONSES

Columns: Pesukei DeZimra (from Barukh SheAmar to Yishtabah); Within a paragraph of the Shema or the preceding blessings; Between the paragraphs of the Shema or the preceding blessings; Between concluding the blessing גָּאַל יִשְׂרָאֵל and beginning the Amida.

The rules regarding responses are identical to those of Shaḥarit. After the blessing שׁוֹמֵר עַמּוֹ יִשְׂרָאֵל לָעַד until Half Kaddish, is considered to be between paragraphs, even in the middle of בָּרוּךְ יְהֹוָה לְעוֹלָם אָמֵן וְאָמֵן [ביאור הלכה סו ד"ה ואלו].

HALLEL

The laws regarding responses during Hallel are identical to those of the Shema [שו"ע או"ח תפה, א]. If a Lulav is brought in the middle of Hallel, one should say the blessing between paragraphs of Hallel [משנ"ב תרמד, ז].

REMOVING A CRYING CHILD

One should remove a crying child from the synagogue even while saying the Amida, in order to avoid disturbing others who are praying [אישי ישראל פל"ב, יג] [(בשם החזון אי"ש)].

KADDISH DURING PESUKEI DEZIMRA

A mourner is permitted to say Kaddish during Pesukei DeZimra, if he will be unable to say it afterwards [אישי ישראל פט"ו הערה קט].

The following psalms may be said on special occasions: On the day of one's wedding: Ps. 19 on page 465. On the birth of a child: Ps. 20 on page 179 and Ps. 139 on page 1099. For someone who is ill: Ps. 23, page 1099; Ps. 121, page 701; Ps. 130, page 705; and Ps. 139 on page 1099. For safety in Israel: Ps. 20 on page 179; Ps. 120 on page 699; Ps. 121 on page 701 and Ps. 125 on page 703. On recovery from illness: Ps. 6 on page 145; Ps. 30 on page 67 and Ps. 103 on page 1099. Thanksgiving: Ps. 95 on page 371; Ps. 116 on page 781. For guidance: Ps. 139 on page 1099. For success: Ps. 121 on page 701. For repentance: Ps. 90 on page 471. For help in difficult times: Ps. 20 on page 179; Ps. 130 on page 705. When traveling: Ps. 91 on page 473. In thanksgiving for being saved: Ps. 124 on page 701.

The words וּלְכַפָּרַת פֶּשַׁע are added in the מוסף עמידה of ראש חודש during the months of מרחשון to אדר שני in Jewish leap years.
